The spanish mediterranean sea offers a great watersports opportunity if you sail the balearic islands Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. It is possible to sail over to Barcelona and to the home of Admirals Cup 2006 ValenciaFor Charterers, the balearic islands are first choice if one wants to enjoy a perfect infrastructure in combination with numerous bays and sailing in calm family-like or sportive conditions! Sail from Mallorcaīs Alcudia over to Menorca or from Palma de Mallorca or Can Pastilla to Ibiza and Formentera or to Barcelona. Mostly, people prefer to sail around the island. Weather of the balearic islandsThe islands of the Balears are located in the western mediterranean and their main islands are Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The islands are an ideal area for sailing nearly all year around. Weather reporting and forecasts are very good, and so one can easily create an own itinerary. The northern Mistral-winds can be very strong, and so a skipper shall be carefull with such an information coming in! Itineraries for teh BalearesSailing from Mallorca to Ibiza makes a liferaft obligatory, but most boats have that anyway. If you want to sail to the spanish mainland, make sure, the insurance is covering all riscs for that area as well! Harbours and bays:Mallorca has a good net of Marinas and ports, except on the northern coast. Menorca has 4 ports for pleasure boats, but none of it on the southern coast, where one can find the best anchorages and bays. The most beautiful bays, called"calas", can be discovered on the southern coast of Mallorca. In the high season, the bays can be crowded, so make sure, yoou are there early enough or ready for another hour or two sailing to another bay. As everywhere, it is recommended to make absolutely sure, the anchor will not slip. |
