Recommendations for a sailing itinerary on Mallorca
by www.charterpartner.com

Two weeks sailing from Mallorca – Ibiza – Cabrera and back to Palma de Mallorca

(first week)

Saturday

Checkin and shopping. Supermarkets are close and Palma is worth some hours shopping. Recommended is a short trip to get used to the boat - free berthing in home-base! Evenings: visit the old town of Palma de Mallorca and enjoy one of Mallorca´s famous places, a "cellar" (reservation of a table recommended)

Sunday

Sailing from Palma in westerly direction to Port d´Antratx – the village of the rich and famous, with a nice natural harbourt, a beautiful luxurious Marina full with exclusive boats and an ideal spot for sailing to Barcelona, Valencia or Ibiza (as recommended here)
distance about 23 nm – sailing duration about 4-5 hours

Monday

The day brings your from Port d´Antratx to Ibiza city. distance about 45 nm – duration. 8-9 hours

Tuesday

Circle around the island of Ibiza to the harbour of San Antonio Abad. distance about 32 nm – duration about 7-8 hours

Wednesday

Next destination is La Sabina on the small island of Formentera – it´s the only port of the island. If weather and time are good, it´s recommended to sail around Formentera and enjoy some time on anchorage at one of the beautiful sandy beaches
distance about 22 / 35 nm – duration about 4-5 hours / 7-8 hours

Thursday

Northeasterly to the island of Cabrera, the natural preserved area has limitations for moorings - in summer ask a permit early, because the Coast Guard sends all boats without permit out...no matter what time and weather!
distance about 60 nm – duration about 11-12 hours

Friday

From Cabrera sail over to the Mallorca port of Porto Cristo. distance about 36 nm – duration about 7-8 hours

Mallorca – Menorca (second week)

Saturday

From Porto Cristo you can easily reach Mahón on Menorca distance about 40 nm – duration about 8 hours - in case of MISTRAL be careful and better wait for easier wind conditions. Mistral can be 8-10 Bft!

Sunday

From Mahón it´s a  good sailing day to Ciutadela. distance about 35 nm – duration about 7-8 hours

Monday

Back from Menorca to the northeastern mallorcan Port Pollensa. distance about 28 nm – duration about 5-6 hours

Tuesday

The most northeastern point of Mallorca is Cabo Formentor , from where one sails along the superb mountain coastline of northern Mallorca to Puerto de Sóller – the oly harbour on the northern coast. The portside is nice, but the bars and restaurants on the harbourside and close to the ferry-stops are very expensive at very low quality! Some nice restaurants are about 300m away on the inner bayside, where you can find several nice places. One of it is directly on the beach (follow the bay-curve to it´s beach-end!), the place and quality-price-ratio is ok and the ambiance is very nice!
distance about 32 nm – duration about 7-8 hours

Take the old street-train and visit the city of Soller 3km away (2.50 €/oneway). There is a nice old spanish city to be seen, several bars and restaurants. If you have some more time, enjoy a walk to the small villages of Fornalutx and Binairitx (2-3 km walking through fields, very nice). One can as well take the train to Mallorca (45 minutes) from the train station, where you can visit an exhibition of modern spanish artists like Picasso and others!

Wednesday

Next stop is Port d´Andratx or the 5 nm further lying port of Santa Ponsa. distance about 27 / 32 nm – duration about 4-6 hours

Thursday

the last day is an easy trip to Palma distance about 17 nm – duration about 3-4 hours

Friday

...no we did not make a mistake!
We kept 1 spare-day, because on a trip like that there are many things, that can happen - we recommend to schedule the same cautious way, and better enjoy another day relaxed on one of the beautiful beaches between Puerto Andratx or in Andratx, than coming in trouble, because weather conditions make it hard to reach homeport!
Note, that the gas-station in Palma de Mallorca is full usually on Fridays and that can cause VERY LONG WAITINGTIME! It is recommended to fill the fuel-tank in Puerto Portals.

The whole trip counts about 400 nm, but tacking, excursions and other modifications can make it usually a trip of 480 nm - 520 nm
